5 Tips To Reduce Your Shy Bladder Worries

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

If you’re unfortunate enough to have a shy bladder (paruresis if you want it’s medical name), it can affect your whole life, especially your social life. Depending on the severity of your problem, it could be a “once in a while” issue for you or it could be so bad that you have to re-organize your life around it.

Here are some simple tips that will help you to reduce or overcome your shy bladder problem:

1. Drink less fluid

Sure, that’s probably fairly obvious but it’s still worth remembering. It’s also a good idea to be aware what you drink. Drinks like coffee, for example, known for its diuretic properties will make the problem worse, even if you drink less than you would, say, water.

2. Don’t ignore it

Having a shy bladder isn’t one of those problems that will go away if you ignore it. You actually need to do things to help overcome your problem.

3. Don’t spend all day and night thinking about it either

At first glance, this sounds like it contradicts point number 2. The thing is that it’s actually rather difficult to perform certain things if you′re concentrating on them too much. For example, if I told you to blush now, right now, are you able to? The same logic goes for your shy bladder problem. If the only thing on your mind is “I can’t pee in a public restroom″ then your body and bladder will probably agree with you. Even if you′re bursting.

4. Practice walking into public restrooms

Even when you don’t need to pee. You will start to give your mind the idea that these are perectly safe places. Naturally, you shouldn’t stay inside too long. Just go in for sufficient time to remind yourself that other people use these facilities OK. This could be all the help it needs to reduce or even overcome your bladder’s shyness.

5. Seek help

Find a friend or work colleague and talk to them. Visit your doctor. Or find a specialist hypnosis download that you can listen to discretely and is remarkably effective at curing or at least reducing your shy bladder problem.
